Fall celebration to support literary life on the Peninsula and the recently launched Leadership Circle campaign
MENLO PARK, CA, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Kepler’s Literary Foundation today announced that Abraham Verghese, the internationally acclaimed physician and author of The Covenant of Water and Cutting for Stone, will headline its annual benefit on Monday, November 16. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kepler’s landmark bookstore, 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park.
Verghese, a New York Times best-selling author, will be featured in conversation with Kepler’s journalist-in-residence, Angie Coiro. The annual fall celebration raises funds to support the non-profit Kepler’s Literary Foundation’s author event series and community programs. The November event will also celebrate the recently launched Kepler’s Leadership Circle campaign, a new, multi-year initiative designed to ensure long-term stability for Kepler’s ongoing literary programs in the community. The campaign has already raised $350,000 toward its $550,000 goal.
“We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate with our community alongside Dr. Verghese,” said Praveen Madan, community engagement officer. “Kepler’s has always been a space where literature and big ideas come alive. Having an author of his nature join us highlights the impact our non-profit programs have on the Peninsula, and we are deeply grateful to our donors for helping us secure our future.”
Verghese is the celebrated author of four books: the National Critics Circle Award Finalist My Own Country; the New York Times Notable Book The Tennis Partner; the novel Cutting for Stone, which has sold more than two million copies worldwide; and Oprah’s Book Club pick The Covenant of Water.
Recognized globally for both his medical and literary achievements, Verghese serves as the Linda R. Meier and Joan F. Lane Provostial Professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is the recipient of numerous medical and literary accolades, including the National Humanities Medal of Honor, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Tickets for this exclusive event range from $250 to $1000 and are tax deductible, excluding the estimated cost of goods and services (estimated at $140 per ticket). Space is limited and reservations are highly recommended. For additional information or to purchase tickets, please email events@keplers.org or visit www.keplers.org.
