COVE Animal Health and Animal Clinic Northview to Reopen Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center, Expanding Access to Integrated Veterinary Care

COVE Animal Health, a Community of Veterinary Entrepreneurs, today announced that Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center in Norwalk, Ohio will re-open as part of their Animal Clinic Northview (ACN) hospital network.

COVE Animal Health builds and supports veterinary-led regional hospital networks that bring together primary, urgent, emergency and specialty care. Through this partnership, Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center will retain its name and community identity, while gaining access to the broader clinical expertise, resources, leadership and integrated patient services of the Animal Clinic Northview. This model reflects COVE’s mission to build integrated veterinary services for patients.

Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center has been closed since the passing of its longtime owner Dr. Ronald Hendrikson, who built the trusted hospital as an AAHA-accredited practice known for its longstanding commitment to clinical excellence, compassionate care, and strong community relationships. Its planned reopening will continue that legacy while restoring an important source of local veterinary care for pets and their families.

“This announcement is first and foremost about honoring what Dr. Ronald Hendrikson built and restoring an important source of veterinary care to the Norwalk community,” said Tessa Olson, MBA, CEO of COVE Animal Health. “COVE’s role is to help local hospitals join together into veterinary-led networks. Reopening Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center under Animal Clinic Northview’s network and leadership reflects that patient-focused growth we believe in.”

Dr. Brian Greenfield, President of Animal Clinic Northview, spoke to the respect ACN has long held for the Norwalk practice. “We’ve known and respected this practice for years,” said Greenfield. “You see how other teams operate, how they care for clients, and how they support their community. This was always a hospital that did things the right way, and we’re proud to continue that legacy.”

Nancy Hendrikson, wife of the late Dr. Hendrikson, expressed her support for the transition, saying, “I am very pleased that my husband’s legacy of providing high-quality, compassionate veterinary care at Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center will continue through ACN. I know how deeply he cared about his clients, their pets, and the quality of care they received, and I am grateful that this commitment will carry forward.”

Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center will retain its name and reopen as part of the ACN family. The hospital is expected to provide general veterinary care services, including wellness and preventive care, sick visits, routine surgeries, and dental procedures.

“Our goal is simple,” added Greenfield. “To bring the same high standard of medicine, communication, and reliability that we have built at Animal Clinic Northview, while respecting what this practice has meant to the community. This is not about replacing what was there. It is about building on it.”
